Deaf Awareness Week 2026

Deaf Awareness Week is an annual event to raise awareness about deafness and Deaf culture and history. It aims to help break down barriers for those with hearing loss.

Although up to 1 in 3 adults in the UK are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus (figures sourced from RNID), the deaf and hard of hearing communities often face significant barriers to communication, including a general lack of awareness for the communication needs for deaf individuals – which may not be the same for each person!

Here at The Circle, our staff have undergone some incredible Deaf Awareness Training, provided by the Deaf Advice Team at Sheffield Citizen’s Advice.  Their incredible work has helped prepare our staff for understanding and communicating better with any of our visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing.

We wish a warm welcome to all our deaf visitors and pledge to continue to be a helpful and welcoming space for all to use.
